CPI Security in Greenville, South Carolina - Deceitful practices

The tech that was here told me that it was a 23-24 month contract and after waiting for that period to cancel my contract, i am now told that i can't cancel because of a 39 month contract. The only thing they have to hang over my head is a handwritten contact which has been alerted! I am NOT tolerating this from any company. Even though it's only $50/ month it's a service that i haven't used in over a year. I can't believe they're still in business after reading they've done this so many times!
